Mid-America Bully Breed Rescue's rescue efforts are made possible in part by a grant from Animal Farm Foundation.

Though many believe only adult dogs that end up in shelters, the truth is that young puppies, often only days old, lose their lives daily in area shelters. It is not uncommon for puppies to be born in the shelter only to never make it outside alive.

Pit Bulls and other bully breeds are never given the opportunity to be adopted in 85% of area shelters. Not because the shelters don't care, but because they do. There are so many people who want these dogs for the wrong reasons, that it is safer for the dogs to die humanely than to end up in the hands of those whol will continue to torture and abuse them.

This means the ONLY hope for bullys in the shelter is rescue. We can't save them all -or even come close. We try our best to help as many as possible, but space has run out. MABBR relies on loving foster families to care for our dogs until they are adopted, and our foster homes are full.

As it gets colder adoptions slow down, but the number of homeless pit bulls needing help holds constant. Hundreds of homless dogs are left to fend for themselves on the streets, and many can't survive.

We hope we can open some eyes to what these dogs are facing and find additional foster and adoptive homes willing to help save their dogs lives.

By adopting a MABBR dog you open up a space for one of these precious souls in our program, therefore not only saving one life -but two.

Please consider saving a life today.
